Terms of Use (EULA)

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Use (the "Terms" or "EULA") form a binding agreement between you and Katav governing your use of the Katav mobile app, website and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. About Katav

Katav is an AI-powered note-taking platform for students. It helps capture lectures through notes, recordings and transcriptions, and uses AI to organize, summarize and connect content across classes.

The Service may evolve over time, and some features may be added, changed or removed.

3. Eligibility and your account

To use Katav you must:

• Provide accurate, current and complete information when creating your account.
• Keep your login credentials confidential and be responsible for all activity under your account.
• Be at least the age of digital consent in your country, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
• Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscriptions, billing and auto-renewal

Katav offers optional paid plans sold as auto-renewable subscriptions. The subscription name, length and price (including price per unit where applicable) are displayed in the app before you confirm any purchase. Prices may vary by region and are shown in your local currency where available.

• Available subscription lengths include monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual plans, as shown in the app.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account (or Google Play account on Android) at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage or turn off auto-renewal at any time in your App Store (or Google Play) account settings after purchase.
• Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.

5. Free trials and promotional offers

If a free trial or introductory offer is provided, any unused portion of the free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable. The terms of each offer are shown in the app at the time it is presented.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel a subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep access until then.

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are subject to the respective store's refund policies. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google, not by Katav.

7. Acceptable use

When using Katav you agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Upload content that infringes the rights of others or that you do not have the right to share.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems.
• Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.

8. Your content and ownership

You retain ownership of the notes, recordings, files and other content you create or upload ("Your Content"). You grant Katav a limited license to host, process and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you, including processing it through AI features you choose to use.

You are responsible for Your Content and for having the rights necessary to upload and process it.

9. AI-generated content

Katav uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries, flash cards, quizzes and other study material. AI output may contain errors or omissions and is provided to assist your studies, not to replace your own judgment. Always verify important information against authoritative sources.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, trademarks and content provided by Katav, is owned by Katav or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use Katav's brand or materials except as needed to use the Service.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that AI output will be accurate.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Katav will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that may harm Katav, other users or third parties. Subscription billing terms above continue to apply to any active subscription.

14. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at Katav's place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply.
